Magnetic fields can be used to levitate living cells and form small organ-like bioconstructs of various shapes. But what happens to living cells when being exposed to high magnetic field for prolonged times? This questions we aim to answer by in situ imaging the living cells while being exposed to high magnetic fields with a home built fluorescent laser scanning confocal microscope.

Projects:

  •     Magnetic levitation as a tool to self-assemble bioconstructs
  •     Developing a fluorescent laser scanning confocal microscope compatible with a Bitter magnet
  •     In situ imaging of living cells exposed to high magnetic fields
